Harvard scientists studied Trans-Fat vs. Saturated Fat. All they were studying was heart disease, they weren't even thinking about a weight gain issue.
•Group A and B consumed same calories and fat
–Group A = Trans-fat
–Group B = Saturated-fat
Surprised to find…Group A gained 3 times as much weight!!! »A calorie isn’t just a calorie!
Here is my solution:
1 chocolate hazelnut tea bag
Few drops of chocolate stevia
1 cup unsweetened chocolate almond milk
If you wanted to make it "a quadruple" hot chocolate, you could also add a TBS of unsweetened cocoa powder!
NUTRITIONAL COMPARISON (per serving)
Swiss Miss "SUGAR FREE" = 60 calories, 10 carbs, 7g sugar (using WATER)
"Healthified" Hot Chocolate = 40 calories, 0 fat, 0 protein, 1 carb, 0 SUGAR
This may be my new winter drink!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks so yummy! I love warm drinks when fall comes. Keep up the great work Maria! -Nicole:)
ReplyDeleteYep, I have done it with just the whites:) It makes it easier for the batter to not fall, but it doesn't give it as good of a flavor. Let me know if you try it!
ReplyDeleteDo you put your tea bag in the Almond Milk after warming it up?
ReplyDeleteYep;)
ReplyDeleteMade this today and it totally hit the spot! Would love more quick easy ideas like this:)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!!
ReplyDeleteYou sure know your stuff!! You amaze me!!
Things might change abit next month:) For the better:)
Your in my thoughts and prayers with the boys!!
I discovered warmed almond milk last Winter. It's low carb, low cal, easy, and a great treat. I use the vanilla unsweetened almond milk and add a little sweetener and flavoring. I like the idea of using the tea bag. I bet it would be delish with a chai tea bag.
ReplyDeleteOh, it also comes in handy for getting some coconut oil down if you're trying to do that each day. I would stir in about a tablespoon to my hot drink. Some people just eat it from a spoon but I can't do that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip Karla!;)))
ReplyDeleteI love warmed almond milk. I buy unsweetened original (unflavored) and I warm it with either cocoa powder and a little stevia or with a small amount of vanilla extract and stevia. so easy and good. A satisfying comfort food. I also like cold almond milk plain!
ReplyDeleteTried this tonite after the football game. Yummmm!! I couldn't find chocolate hazelnut tea but I found some yummy chocolate peppermint tea...relish!!
ReplyDeleteYum Jen! Thanks for your interest;)
ReplyDeleteThe Republic of Tea's Double Dark Chocolate Mate would also work extremely well here. It's very chocolate-y by itself. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! :)
